Website Advertising via Search Engines
This is the most important aspect to the success of a website project. Two specific areas require attention; Search Engine submission and Media Advertising. Media advertising strategy is not discussed in this document.
Search Engine submission requires that the website be established and the web pages with their content be available for the various Search Engines robots and spiders to search the website for keyword information that they subsequently add to their specific databases. HTML META tags should also be used to emphasize specific terms for each page for optimum placement in search results.
There are numerous Search Engine Submission services available for fees ranging from a few dollars to several hundreds of dollars. These services send the submission requests to the numerous search engines. Typically it can take up to two to four weeks from the time a website URL is submitted to a search engine before the website actually shows up in the search engine. Some Search Engines require a fee to submit a website URL, and others accept payment for improved placement within the search results.
Some services do not do as good of a job as would be done if the process of website URL submission is performed manually by someone working on the project, as the services typically submit generic fields of information common to all search engines; as opposed to Search Engine specific information pertaining to the website being entered manually with insight as to the objective of the website. Search Engine Submission is an on going process to assure good placement within the numerous search engines.

Beyond Search Engines - Submission of your website to the search engines is just the beginning to advertising your presence on the web.
